Board of Supervisors President Otto Lee introduced a proposed ban for unincorporated areas, but on May 6, 2025 the Board unanimously dropped it after Supervisor Sylvia Arenas and colleagues raised concerns that enforcement could fuel reporting of immigrant workers to police or ICE. The Board redirected staff to explore electric-equipment rebate programs instead.
